Before making his music, Will was a house party DJ in Tucson, Arizona. He quickly realized he wanted to expand his talents and begin producing his own tracks, which he did under the name “Will Be Ceen”.  His newfound love for making original music led him to book monthly concerts throughout high school and eventually enroll in NYU’s Music Technology program. Will is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Music Technology, and his studies revolve around studying technology, entertainment media, and production skills, which have allowed him to develop his brand and release new music under the name “Hemma the Monarch”, derived from the Swedish word for home.  He released his first track as Hemma the Monarch in April of 2021 while interning for Splice and a recording studio through which he learned more about the arts of signal processing, sound design, and audio engineering.

During the summer of 2021, Will was introduced to Jahlil Beats, who shared his creative process with Will.  Through a series of studio sessions with Jahlil, Will was inspired to commit to his music which eventually led him to release his first instrumental album, Space Between Spaces, for “The God”, the single for The Drill EP, which would end up being the catalyst for the project.  The Drill EP was released on April 15, 2022, featuring Jahlil Beats, 808arc, and Will.

Throughout his undergraduate career at NYU, Will expanded his skillset across many electronic and experimental music forms. His exploration of No-Input Mixing, which turns any regular mixer into an instrument that generates sound by connecting the output of a mixer to one of its inputs, resulting in a feedback loop that can be played and controlled using the mixer's knobs, faders, and routing out to other fx pedals led him to explore the edges of experimental sound design. This experimentation led to 2 electronic music ensemble and solo performances.

For his Senior Project, Will developed music, in addition to a virtual experience to be exclusively experienced in VR through an Oculus headset by mixing his music specifically for Unity, a game development platform. For his Master of Music Degree in Music Technology, he is focused on developing research for immersive technologies and content creation using immersive technologies.

Additionally, Will has had experience in many facets of Music Technology throughout the Music Industry at various organizations. Including but not limited to NYU’s James L. Dolan Recording Studio, Spotify, Dolby Laboratories, and Splice, where he is currently a content creator for X10 and Capsun Pro Audio.

Will plans on making music that is engaging to listen to and developing his sonic footprint through his artistic career, and it’s just beginning.
